Exam Stress Tip #4: Reward Yourself.

My motto: “When stressed, treat yo self” (my fellow Parks and Recreation fans will know exactly where I got that from!). Exam time is rough; you’re constantly learning new things, trying to remember countless pieces of information and trying to keep sane at the same time. Recognize that you’re working hard, and that you deserve to be rewarded.

Whether it’s a pizza for dinner, that cute shirt you’ve bee eying up in your favourite store, or a new book you’ve been dying to read. All these things (and many more) count as rewards, and they can help manage your exam stress. It’s like a light at the end of the tunnel. If you know you’ll be allowed to indulge in a delicious brownie once you’ve finished your essay, you’ll be more motivated to do so. Motivation often trumps stress, and all of a sudden, that essay seems pretty manageable.

So plan those rewards in, write them down if you have to, so that you have some motivation to get you through this stressful period. I know that when I finish writing all my notes for my exam today, I’m heading into town to buy a pair of jeans from H&M that I have been wanting for ages. It makes writing my notes a whole lot better!
