No Makeup Month: Halfway Update.

Hey there, I’m still here! I’ve spent the past week and a bit pretty much wifi-less on Gili Air (a island that stole my heart, but there will be a whole other blog post on that!) and so have not been able to blog. The hiatus from Internet and social media was nice, but I’m glad to be back to update you on my “no makeup month” experience.

I haven’t worn any makeup for almost three weeks now, and overall it’s been great. I’ve definitely had times when I wanted to wear makeup to cover up some spots, but because I didn’t bring any with me, I wasn’t able to. This didn’t bother me for long though; I’ve definitely adopted a more “I don’t care” attitude when it comes to my looks. It’s not even so much that I don’t care that there are visible spots on my face, it’s more that I’ve learnt to accept it. If someone is going to judge me based on whether I have spots on my face, then screw them!

This is me: 100% makeup-free, sweaty and unedited! A few months ago I would never have posted this online, but right now I feel comfortable enough in my skin (literally and figuratively) to post online.

There are definitely some factors that have helped this quick journey to accepting the state of my skin. Number one; it’s BOILING hot here in Bali. Two minutes outside and I’m already sweating. If I was wearing makeup it would be ruined by sweat in no time, and I’m happy to not have to deal with mascara running into my eyes because of the heat (because that shit hurts!). Secondly, I’ve been doing a lot of water activities. Swimming, diving, snorkelling; there’s no place for makeup there. Hence, the majority of the time, I haven’t missed my concealer and eyeliner at all.

Regarding the condition of my skin, it’s been okay. I had my usual breakouts when I was on my period (nothing I can do about that) but otherwise my skin has been behaving pretty good! I definitely still have a spot or two somewhere on my face most days, but besides that my skin looks and feels pretty healthy. I think this is for sure partly to do with not wearing makeup. Also, I know that my skin reacts well to sun and salt water, two things I’ve been getting plenty of here. Overall, I’m pretty pleased with the state of my skin.

I’ll be writing a final update when this month is over, so stayed tuned for that!

Have you got any skincare tips for me? I’d really appreciate them; let me know in the comments!

Hoije ❤
