My Favourite At-Home Workout Videos: My Fitness Journey (Update #2).

I’m so excited to share this post with you today! If you’ve been following my blog for a little while now you’ll now that I recently embarked on a fitness journey. To sum it up, I wanted to get active again and feel good in my body. There is one catch though; I didn’t want to spend any money doing it. I’m happy to report that I’m still going strong and feeling great, and I’ve done it all without spending a dime. I’ve mainly been using at-home workout videos. There are a ton out there, but I’ve found a few gems that I feel are so successful at making me sweat, toning my body and making me feel great.

Today I’m sharing those favourites with you. I’ve picked a whole range of exercise videos because one thing I’ve learned on this fitness journey is that it’s all about balance. I like to concentrate on different parts of my body every time I exercise, and so these workout videos I’m sharing with you all have a different focus. Here they are:

Yoga

I’ve been loving yoga recently, and this particular flow is great in that it makes me sweat and relaxes me at the same time. Adriene’s channel, Yoga With Adriene, is amazing; I have been following her for a while and have tried out so many of her yoga flows. Definitely one of my favourite ‘workout’ channels out there.

What I Ate Wednesday: Vegan (#19)

It’s Wednesday and so it’s time for another What I Ate Wednesday post! Before I show you everything I eat in a day, I quickly wanted to talk about something: carbs. I feel like carbs are such a big thing whenever people talk about healthy eating. I remember a few years back, when I was looking for a way to lose weight, I cut out carbs for a little while. I relied heavily on animal protein (I wasn’t vegan yet then) and certain fruits and vegetables. This way of eating not only made meal times less enjoyable, but it really didn’t do much for my body.

Luckily I’ve realised since then that carbs are amazing. Not only do they taste great (I mean, who doesn’t love bread?!?!) but they are also so beneficial in your diet! You get so much energy from carbs, which is why they are now a staple in my diet. As you’ll see in this What I Ate Wednesday post, I had carbs with every meal. Oats, bread, pasta; these are all foods which I enjoy on a healthy balanced diet. So, with that little talk out of the way, here is what I eat in a day:

Breakfast

Oats are my favourite thing to have for breakfast; the carbs give you energy to start your day off and most importantly, oatmeal just tastes amazing. This time I had some cinnamon oats, made with extra chia seeds and flax seeds, topped with soy yoghurt, almonds and these delicious grilled pears! The pears were such a yummy addition to this breakfast, I definitely recommend giving it a try.

Ahhh mornings; you either love them or you hate them. I for one really enjoy my mornings and that is partly due to my morning routine. What you do in the morning sets the tone for the whole day. I like to structure my mornings so that I can have a productive day ahead. So today I am sharing my morning routine for productivity. What I Ate Wednesday: Vegan (#18)

Happy Wednesday! You know the drill by now, on Wednesday’s I publish ‘What I Ate Wednesday’ posts, where I show you what I eat on a typical day. The things I tend to eat on a daily basis change throughout the year, depending on the weather and what I’m craving at that point in time. As the weather is getting colder at the moment, I’m craving more hot meals. So here is what I eat in a day at the moment:

Breakfast

Not matter what time of year it is, I will always love pancakes for breakfast. I have pancakes at least once a week and I try to make them as nutritious as possible. You can find my recipe here, and this time I had my pancakes with granola, blueberries, almonds, cacao nibs and chocolate sauce. Not going to lie, I’m pretty proud with how this stack turned out!

My Fitness Journey: The Start.

Last week I realised that I haven’t properly worked out in over a year. I do my best to maintain an active lifestyle in terms of walking a lot of going on hikes and such, but I have recently been lacking in the proper exercise department. I’ve noticed some small changes in my body in terms of weight gain but nothing major. I do however think that the lack of exercise has had some impact on my mental health. I think I’ve become more lazy in a lot of aspects in my life, which I think is partly due to being physically lazy.

The Quarter-Life Crisis.

I’m sure most of you have heard of the mid-life crisis. The clichΓ© we often see in movies where a middle-aged person is lost in life, not knowing what to do next and overall just feeling stuck. It wasn’t till a few years ago that I heard about the quarter-life crisis. At the time I was still a undergraduate student and so couldn’t really relate; I felt like I had a purpose in life and I was busy studying. What I Ate Wednesday: Vegan (#17)

It feels like it’s been ages since I’ve done a What I Ate Wednesday blog post, so it only felt right to write one again! My life at the moment, as you might have grasped from my previous blog post (and if you follow me on Instagram) revolves around my dissertation. My meals have been focused on healthy, whole foods that will fuel my brain. So here is what I eat on a typical day at the moment:

Breakfast

There’s nothing I love more than oats in the morning; if you’ve read my past WIAW posts you probably already know that! I’ve recently been adding more nuts and seeds to my oats, for some extra goodness. Here I added in milled flaxseed and chia seeds to my oatmeal while it was cooking, and topped with with almonds and cacao nibs, as well as blueberries and LOTS of peanut butter sauce. Seriously, how epic is that drizzle?!
